GAME PLAY
What is the mulligan ball?
After each player hits their four golf balls, Sholf becomes a short game: Each player gets to putt their furthest ball from the scoring end again. The non-scoring player putts his mulligan ball first.
What if two opposing balls are exactly the same distance from the scoring end?
It is very rare that you can't determine a lead ball, but there are two situations in which this can happen:
What if a golf ball is on the line?
If a golf ball lands on or touches a line it counts as being in the lower scoring area. You should be able to see green, even if it is slight, between the plane of the ball and the line.
Who has the advantage during the initial putts from the playing to the scoring end?
A player who shoots the last has the advantage in that round. How he uses this advantage depends on his skill. If he is a good putter, he can count on this last ball to out-putt any ball his opponent may have on the green.
Who has the advantage during the mulligan ball putts?
The player that putts the second mulligan ball has an enormous advantage.
Which player goes first?
When starting a new game, flip a coin to determine who goes first.
Which player goes first during a game?
The previous round's scoring player goes first.
Which player goes first if you're challenging the winner of the previous game?
The challenging player goes first.
What if a ball is leaning off of the green, but not off of the green's protective binding? Is this considered a 4 point leaner?
Yes. The putting green's binding is NOT considered part off the playing green.
Can you play doubles?
You sure can. One variation would be to have your teammate hit your mulligan ball and vice versa.
SHOLF CARE
How long will Sholf last?
Sholf putting greens will last years with proper care. After each use, roll up the green and store it vertically.
How do you clean a Sholf putting green?
Sholf putting greens can be vacuumed using a dry vacuum cleaner only.
